Islanders were joined at The Holly Bush by our neighbours from Mill Street, some of Phil’s colleagues and his son to celebrate his retirement as postman on 18 July. Osney collected a remarkable £935 for Phil, and Mill Street also had a collection. There were flowers from the allotments, a spectacular cake, and an enormous card signed by much of the island.

Phil had been on our route for 15 years, and a postman for nearly 50 years. He was much appreciated for his friendliness, efficiency and kindness.
