Osney Town is a designated conservation area. As well as the residential streets the designation covers the towpath down to the railway bridge, and the far bank of the Osney Stream. It is designed to protect the character of the area including its ‘green envelope’ of stream and riverside vegetation.
House alterations
Regulations cover the external appearance of dwellings, including walls, doors and windows, roofs and skylights. There is detailed information about the specifics on Oxford City Council website here.
Relevant documents can be downloaded here and should be consulted before making any change to house exteriors.
In 2021 the City Council advised that solar PV installations on roofs are permitted development in Osney.
